Exports increased by 2.3% while imports decreased by 5.2% in March 2016

According to the provisional data, produced with the cooperation of the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Customs and Trade, in March 2016; exports were 12 billion 811 million dollars with a 2.3% increase and imports were 17 billion 758 million dollars with a 5.2% decrease compared with March 2015.

Foreign trade deficit decreased by 20.3%...

In the same month, foreign trade deficit decreased by 20.3% from 6 billion 205 million dollars to 4 billion   946 million dollars.

In March 2016, exports coverage imports was 72.1%, while it was 66.9% in March 2015.

Seasonally and calendar adjusted exports decreased by 3.5%...

Seasonally and calendar adjusted exports decreased by 3.5% and imports decreased by 0.6%, compared with previous month. Calendar adjusted exports decreased by 0.3%, imports decreased by 8.5% compared with March 2015.

Exports to the European Union (EU-28) increased by 18.1%...

As compared with the same month of the previous year, exports to the EU-28 increased by 18.1% from   5 billion 331 million dollars to 6 billion 295 million dollars. The proportion of the EU countries was 49.1% in March 2016, while it was 42.6% in March 2015.

The main partner for exports was the United Kingdom...

In March 2016, the main partner country for exports was the United Kingdom with 1 billion 386 million dollars. The United Kingdom was followed by Germany (1 billion 219 million dollars), Iraq (652 million dollars) and Italy (609 million dollars).

The top country for imports was China...

In March 2016, the top country for Turkey's imports was China (2 billion 273 million dollars), records for imports range from Germany (2 billion 22 million dollars), Russia (1 billion 395 million dollars)  and  the USA (1 billion 8 million dollars).

Ratio of exports of high-tech products in manufacturing industries was 3.9%...

Foreign trade by technology intensity covers the manufacturing industries' products in classification of ISIC Rev.3. According to the ISIC Rev.3, the ratio of manufacturing industries products in total exports was 94.6% in March. The ratio of high-technology products in manufacturing industries was 3.9%. The ratio of medium-high-technology products in manufacturing industries' products was 32%.

Ratio of imports of high-tech products in manufacturing industries was 17.3%...

The ratio of manufacturing industries' products in total imports was 84.5%. The ratio of high-technology products in manufacturing industries' products was 17.3% in March 2016. The ratio of medium-high-technology products in manufacturing industries' products was 46.7%.
